Meet the Faculty 

Department Head (Special Education): Tiffany Weck

My name is Tiffany Weck and this is my 5th year teaching Special Education Science classes at Sequoyah. I am a native Georgian and have lived in Canton for the past three years. My daughter, Katie, is in the 4th grade at Hickory Flat Elementary School. Before receiving my teaching certificate and coming to teach at Sequoyah, I was in private practice as a Chiropractor. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science/Sports Medicine from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, OK. I began my Chiropractic studies at Parker Chiropractic College in Dallas, TX and completed my degree as Doctor of Chiropractic at Life University in Marietta, GA. Tammy Boquet

My name is Tammy Boquet and I currently teach Algebra I and team teach both Algebra II and Statistical Reasoning. I currently hold a BS in Mathematics with an undeclared minor in statistics from Kennesaw State University. I have worked in education for the past 18 years. I began my career as a para-professional in Fulton County Schools working with students with disabilities while pursuing my degree. For the past 5 years, I worked at North Forsyth High School as a Special Education Math Teacher. While working in Forsyth County I received an award for challenging my students through an online program that helps them to gain a deeper understanding of the concepts being taught. I grew up in Houma, Louisiana and moved to Canton, GA 23 years ago. All 3 of my children have graduated from Cherokee County Schools. Hi my name is Chuck Childress and I am a Paraprofessional in special education here at Sequoyah. I also coach wrestling and this is my 21st year teaching and coaching. I grew up in Cobb county and attended Sprayberry High School and furthered my education at Reinhardt University after working 17 years in retail . I also have been involved in pro wrestling as a referee. I have 4 step children and 2 step grandson’s.I’m just glad to be here and to try to make a difference in our student’s lives. Derrick DeWitt

My name is Derrick DeWitt and I work within the math department. I hold a M.A.T. in Special Education from Brenau University and a B.A. in Communications from Stetson University, Go Hats!

I am fortunate to be the Head Coach of the Lady Chiefs Basketball team. Our team plays hard and together. Our motto is “hustle and heart, set us apart”. I’ve lived in many places growing up as an army-brat but Cherokee County is a great place for my family. My wife, Renee, and our two daughters, Leah and Alana enjoy everything the Cherokee County has to offer. I treat my math classes like my basketball teams. We challenge, we endure, and we overcome. I tell our kids, “you are always going to have problems in life, this math stuff is to help you navigate through those problems for positive solutions, no quitting”. Angie Geiger

My name is Angie Geiger and I am a paraprofessional in the self-contained MI/MO classroom. I have a BBA from Georgia State University, and this is my second year at Sequoyah. I grew up in Roswell, but have lived in Cherokee County for 28 years. My husband David and I have 4 children and 2 grandchildren. My youngest, and only one left at home, is a sophomore here at Sequoyah. I am involved with the Band of Chiefs and am the scorekeeper for the varsity basketball teams. Miriam Greene

My name is Miriam Greene, and I teach 12th grade British Literature and Composition at Sequoyah High School. I hold and MEd in Education from Lesley University and a BA in English from the University of West Georgia. I have always had a love of reading and English which was fostered by my high school English teachers. I am a native of Canton and a graduate of Cherokee High School. In addition to studying British Literature, students will also be completing their Senior Project. I encourage my students to  complete a project that not only interests them, but also has practical application for their future plans. Hi Everyone! My name is Christal Hardaway and I teach 11th grade American Literature and have one 12th grade American Government class. I am currently back in school myself working towards my Ed.S. in Curriculum and Design at Piedmont College. I hold a MAT in Secondary Social Studies Education from Georgia State University, and a BS in Political Science from Kennesaw State University. My love of literature and composition started as a young child and so I also received my certification in English as well! I am in my second year at Sequoyah High School and not only teach, but assist with the girl’s basketball teams as well! Outside of school, I have 2 children; Jordyn is 14 and attends Dean Rusk Middle School where she plays on the basketball team. She also plays JV Lacrosse at Sequoyah! My son is 6 and attends Hickory Flat Elementary School. He also plays basketball and travel baseball year around. We like to stay busy!!! I look forward to many more years growing at Sequoyah! My name is Jon Heath, and I teach Geometry and Math Support here at Sequoyah High School. I am a Canton native, and graduated from Sequoyah in 1998 before obtaining my undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia. This is my third year at Sequoyah, and I am happy to be back at my alma mater. Previous teaching experience includes six years at Allatoona High School in Acworth, and one year at Lassiter High School in Marietta. My wife, Emily, is also a special education teacher at Avery Elementary.  We recently welcomed twin sons, Major and Baker, into the world in August. Cora Hodgins

My name is Cora Hodgins and I teach U.S. and World History. I graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2012 with a History Education degree. I am currently working on my graduate degree at Piedmont University. This is my 5th year teaching and my first year at Sequoyah. I am the assistant swim coach here as well. I grew up in Canton and graduated from Cherokee High School. I now live in Ball Ground with my husband Jake, and our son Jake Jr. (6th grade-Dean Rusk.) I am so excited to be at Sequoyah! MOID-MID Department Head: Lauren Holland

My name is Lauren Holland and I am the Mi/ Mo Department Head at Sequoyah High School. This is my 2nd year teaching here at my alma mater. I received my BA in General Curriculum from Georgia Southern University and graduated summa cum laude. I am now highly qualified in all areas to teach Special Education. Here at SHS I serve a the JV girls soccer coach and assistant Varsity coach. I am also the co- sponsor of the Friends Club. My name is Joice Maikoski and I am a Paraprofessional for the Sequoyah High School Special Education Department. I currently hold a 2-year Associates Degree in Family Science from Brigham Young University-Idaho. Although this is my first year as a Parapro, I have served the Sequoyah Zone for many years in various roles including but not limited to room parent, Media Center volunteer, field trip chaperone, and Chorus Booster Club board member. I graduated from Roswell High School and after attending BYU-I for a year, I met and married my husband Marc. We currently live in Canton with our four wonderful children, Shelbie (20), Cydnee (17), Caleb (15), and Emalee (11), all of which have attended schools in Cherokee County since my oldest started Kindergarten in 2002. I have always been impressed with the quality of teachers and administrators in our county and feel truly blessed to finally be a part of the CCSD community. I was blessed with a tender heart and have always had a desire to help those in need. Being a part of the Special Education Department has given me the opportunity to put both of those qualities to work. I look forward to serving our community in this capacity for many years to come. My name is Heather Lipham and I teach 9th grade English within the Special Education department at Sequoyah High School. I hold a BA in English with Secondary Certification and an MA in English, both from the University of West Georgia; an MDiv in Women’s Studies from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary; and I am back in school to obtain my Specialist in Teacher Leadership from Valdosta State University. I grew up in Carrollton, Georgia and now live in Woodstock. I love to read! I also consider myself a writer and am working on the next best summer beach read. I enjoy traveling and experiencing new places. In the fall, you will often find me yelling my support for a team, either the Florida Gators or one of my son’s teams for soccer or lacrosse. I have two sons: Parker and Preston. I have a passion for my subject area, and it is my goal to teach my students how to think critically, through reading, and how to express themselves well, through writing. My name is Kimberly Morgan and I teach Severe and Profound Disabilities.  I received my Master of Education Cross Categorical from Grand Canyon University.  I am highly qualified in all content areas P-8 and Self-Contained P-12.  l have lived in Woodstock/Canton area since 1999.  I have two children (twins) Katelyn and Chandler who graduated from Sequoyah in 2016.  Before receiving my teaching degree, I graduated from Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi with a BBA in Business Management.  I spent 7 years working in the business office of a large medical practice in the area.   After leaving the business world I came to  Sequoyah as a paraprofessional in the Special Education Department for 10 years.  Contact me at kimberly.morgan@cherokee.k12.ga.us

Hi, my name is Katie Page and I am an MI/MO teacher at Sequoyah High School! I am a native Cherokee County girl and have always lived in the community of Free Home! I attended the University of North Georgia where I received my BBA. I spent a year in the corporate world before realizing that my heart was in education, specifically special education! I returned to school and received my M.A.T at Reinhardt University. During that time I got a job as a paraprofessional at Sequoyah High School, so I could not be more blessed and excited to be back at Sequoyah as a Special Education Teacher. Jacqueline Pickerill

My name is Jackie Pickerill, and I am a paraprofessional for Lauren Holland in the Special Education Department at Sequoyah HS. I am originally from Northern Virginia and moved to Georgia to attend the University of Georgia, where I earned my degree in Advertising. I worked in the advertising field for a few years, and have owned a couple of small businesses. My love for working with the Special Education students brought me to Sequoyah HS where I have been a paraprofessional for the past two years. My name is Dakota Richards and I am teaching 9th-10th grade mathematics for Sequoyah High School. In 2005, I graduated from Pickens High School. In 2011, I graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. Prior to majoring in education, I studied music. I have always had a strong connection to music. While attending the University Of Georgia, I became a member of the prestigious Redcoat Marching Band where I played the piccolo. My name is Jennifer Schultz and I teach World History and Economics here at Sequoyah. I learned to love and appreciate history from my 11th grade AP US History teacher and went on to study history at Furman University. I have lived in the area for 12 years but just started teaching here – I love the commute! Previously teaching experience includes Cambridge and Roswell High School as well as 5 years at The Kings Academy. My husband, Andy, is also a teacher and coach at River Ridge HS and I have 2 daughters, Riley and Lillian, who keep me busy with cheerleading, shopping, and various activities. I love to play tennis and coached the girls 2017 6A State Tennis Champions. I enjoy spending my days with young adults, helping them understand how events in the past connect to current events and how they can play an important and vital role in society. Hello! My name is Erin Scott, and I teach Environmental Science. This is my second year teaching at Sequoyah. I grew up in Dallas (GA) but moved to Woodstock in 2011. I now live in Hickory Flat with my husband, 3 kids, and 2 dogs. I attended KSU on a full athletic scholarship for cross country. I graduated with my B.S in Biology and then earned my M.A.T in Biology. I worked in the running industry for 5 years before becoming a teacher. My name is Travis Sheffield. I started teaching Special Education Science in 2007 and I started teaching at Sequoyah in 2010. In addition to teaching, I also coach football and I am the Boys Head Track Coach. My degrees include a BS in Biology from Kennesaw State University, a Teaching Certification in Special Education from the University of Georgia, and a Master’s Degree in Kinesiology from Georgia Southern. Deborah Orr

My name is Deborah Orr, and I teach Special Education Environmental Science and Earth Systems at Sequoyah High School. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Kennesaw State University (1993) and obtained my certificate to teach Secondary Science from University of Georgia (1997). This is my second year teaching at SHS. I have been in education for a total of 11 years. I grew up in Cherokee County and am happy to raise my teenage children (Delena and Donovan) in the Hickory Flat area. I have always loved science and try to convey that enthusiasm to my students in the classroom. I use a variety of techniques to engage students, demonstrate real-world applications, and convey the information needed for them to be successful – not only in the classroom, but also in all aspects of life that involve science. Carol Tozzi

I’m Carol Tozzi and I work with students in the special education department at Sequoyah High School. I have been a paraprofessional for five years and I have loved every minute of it. I grew up in Birmingham, Alabama with a passion for tennis and played four years of varsity tennis at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. I was a member of Kappa Delta sorority and graduated with a degree in Public Relations in 1981. After graduation, I moved to Palm Beach, Florida and taught tennis at Laver’s International Resort for five years, then entered the corporate world as a special events director for Seagram’s International. My name is Jillian Zaski and I teach Special Education 9th and 10th grade Literature/Composition at Sequoyah High School. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in English and English Education from University of Georgia (2016). I grew up in Cherokee County and graduated from Sequoyah in 2012.
