About Johnston Elementary School

About Johnston Elementary School…

The mission of FLORINE DIAL JOHNSTON ELEMENTARY is to promote the development of a learning community that works together with mutual respect to provide each child with an education appropriate for academic, emotional, and social growth in the rapidly changing world. This goal will be achieved by creating positive, child-centered instructional and experimental opportunities.

Our school was built in 1980 and was named for Florine Dial Johnston, a prominent community member whose family donated property for the school. Johnston Elementary School dedicated its new walking track in September 2015, which was made possible through community support. The Joe. E Johnston Walking Track was funded with donations from the Joe E. Johnston Foundation, Johnston ES PTA, Service League of Cherokee County and Cherokee County Educational Foundation.
