Read Across America Celebration
On Friday, March 3, Indian Knoll Elementary will celebrate the birth of Dr. Seuss with our Read Across America Day celebration. Below are a list of activities that each grade level will participate in for that day as well as Monday, March 6.
Kindergarten: Mystery Readers and Seuss Related Fun in the classroom
First Grade: Green Eggs and Ham will be served to students along with guest readers visiting each class. Classes will also participate in Seuss related activities throughout the week.
Second Grade: Guest readers will visit the classroom and classes will participate in Seuss themed graphing and other activities.
Third Grade: The Mayor of Holly Springs, Steve Miller and Jack Goodwin from City Council will be visiting as guest readers.
Fourth Grade: Fourth Grade will participate as book buddies with first grade classrooms.
Fifth Grade: Drop Everything and Read time in the morning (remember those library books) and Seuss books read aloud in each subject area.
Our wonderful cafeteria staff are also getting in on the fun by serving Green Eggs and Ham and a One Fish, Two Fish, Red Dish, Blue Dish surprise.
Finally, on Monday, March 6, an improv group will come for an amazing presentation for all grade levels.
It’s sure to be a Dr. Seuss approve event!!!
