LGPE Press Release
Recently, the Freedom Middle School 8th grade band participated in the Georgia Music Educators Associations’ Large Group Performance Evaluation held at Lambert High School in Forsyth County. The band performed three pieces by Robert Sheldon for a distinguished panel of three adjudicators. The band received an overall Excellent rating for the performance of these three pieces. Additionally, after their stage performance, the band students had to sight read a piece of music that they have never seen or played before. The band students were given six minutes to silently study this music. At the end of the six minutes, the students had to perform the piece for another adjudicator. They received a Superior rating for their sight reading skills. The judge for the sight-reading noted that the group had “just perfect preparation” and had been well taught and had learned much about music during their time in Band!
