Abbey Philpot Headshot

As the principal of Clayton Elementary School, I am energized and deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of your children. I truly believe that a school culture is very much shaped by the collaborative effort of all stakeholders including students, staff, administration, and community.

I began my teaching career in Collier County Public Schools, located in Naples, Florida, where I taught for seven years at the elementary and middle school levels. When my husband and I relocated to Cherokee County, I was hired at Chapman Intermediate School where I taught mathematics for two years. My first administrative assignment was at Little River Elementary where I served as the Assistant Principal responsible for curriculum and instruction, instructional schedules, and support services such as the Early Intervention Program (EIP), English Speakers of other Languages (ESOL), and Response to Intervention (RTI). I began the 2015-2016 school year as an Assistant Principal at Hasty Elementary School and Fine Arts Academy, where I gained further insight to the structures of teaching, learning, and leadership in a Title I school. I was appointed the principal of Clayton Elementary in November 2015 and truly have enjoyed serving the staff and students of this community.

We hope you have enjoyed your summer, and we look forward to another successful school year with our Clayton Cougars!
