School Board Recognition of Students

Downtown Canton

Downtown Canton

If your child has been invited to be recognized at a School Board Meeting:

The Cherokee County Board of Education meets regularly at:

Historic Canton HS/School Board Auditorium
110 Academy Street
Canton, GA 30114

All School Board meetings begin at 7 p.m. sharp. Recognitions are one of the first items on the agenda (the “A” items), so plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early for parking and check-in.

Areas marked on the map with a green “P” are open areas for public parking.

Enter the auditorium at the Archer Street door. Sit wherever you would like. Restrooms are available in the hall at the rear of the auditorium.

When your child’s name is called, he or she will proceed to the stairs onto the dais located on the right side of the auditorium (when facing the dais) and ascend 4-5 steps to the dais, where the Superintendent and School Board members will shake hands and offer congratulations. Students will cross the dais and exit down the left stairs.

After recognitions, a brief recess will be called so that those who do not wish to stay for the rest of the meeting can leave.

All School Board meetings are digitally recorded and available on the CCSD website 24 hours after the meeting, so you can share the link to the video with family and friends. The “Current School Board Meeting Video” link can be found on the Board Meeting Minutes and Board Briefs page.

Note: Some School Board meetings are preceded by a work session of the Superintendent and Board. These sessions are open to the public and you are welcome to be seated in the auditorium and listen to the discussion.
