Cherokee High School
Taylor is the daughter of Kate and Matt Cates. Taylor has participated in Varsity Softball and Basketball while at Cherokee.
Taylor’s accomplishments include, being selected as the 2016 All Region Player of the Year and the 2016 County Player of the Year. Taylor has represented the Warriors as a member of the 2015, 2017 1st Team All Region, 2015 All State Honorable Mention, and 2016 All State 1st Team. Taylor plans to attend Kennesaw State University on an athletic scholarship.
Coach Carlisle had this to say “Taylor led the way for our offense during the Region tournament. Her batting average in the tournament was .526, with 2 homeruns and 6 RBI’s. She also hit 3 doubles with a triple, while scoring 7 runs.”
Taylor is the son of Kelly and Michael Kendrick. Taylor participates in Cross Country and Track at Cherokee.
Taylor’s biggest accomplishment was running a 20:50 5k as a Freshman and running that same race at 17:41 as a Sophomore. Taylor plans to attend Kennesaw State University.
Coach had this to say about Taylor “Taylor is a hardworking, motivated athlete that sets a goal for himself and then works as hard as humanly possible to achieve it. As a result, he dropped his personal record over 45 seconds this season. He has become a role model/leader for his team because of his actions and his success.”
Creekview High School
Amy is the daughter of Barbara and Robert Vetula. She is a member of the Creekview Softball team.
Amy has represented the Grizzlies as the 2017 Region 6-6A Softball Player of the Year and the 2014 Region 7-5A Softball Player of the Year. Amy was also selected as a member of the 2017 and 2016 Region 6-6A All Region, the 2016 6A 1st Team All-State. Amy plans to attend Lipscomb University in Nashville on a Softball scholarship after graduation.
Kyle is the son of Stephanie and Brian Mello. He is a member of the Varsity Football team at Creekview.
Kyle has played Football for his entire high school career as a Defensive Back. He has played every position in the secondary. He is a recipient of the Superintendent’s Key Scholar Award. He is a Scholar Athlete and a Lamp of Knowledge Recipient. Kyle plans to attend UGA and major in Civil Engineering after graduation.
Etowah High School
Jessica is the daughter of Karen and Gregg Cohen. She is a member of the Varsity Volleyball team at Etowah.
Jessica’s accomplishments include being a 4 year letter recipient and going to the State playoffs all 4 years. Jessica has represented the Eagles as a 2015 Honorable Mention All County, 2016 2nd Team All Area, 2016 1st Team All County, 2016 Honorable Mention All State, 2017 All Area, 2017 All County, 2017 All State, Senior Allstar, 3x County Champion and a 4 year Scholar Athlete. Jessica plans to attend Kennesaw State University on a Volleyball Scholarship and student Early Childhood Education.
Patrick is the son of Kelly & Steve Ferris. He is a member of the Varsity Football and Track teams at Etowah.
Patrick has been selected 7 times as the Etowah Offensive Player of the Week, is s Scholar Athlete and has been selected as the Cherokee Tribune Athlete of the Week. He is a 4 year Varsity letter recipient and a 2017 State Track Meet finalist. Patrick hopes to play Football in college and earn a degree in Business and Finance. He plans to pursue a career in Investment Banking and Real Estate Development.
River Ridge High School
Sage is the daughter of Jodi and John Stulak. Sage has participated in Varsity Competition and Sideline Cheer.
Sage is a recipient of honors and merit awards for academic achievement. She was selected to represent her Varsity Sideline Cheer team as captain for her Junior and Senior years. Sage plans to attend college to study pre-med with dreams of becoming a pediatrician.
Rob is the son of Cherie and Lee Zell. He is a member of the Cross Country and Track teams at River Ridge.
Rob has been recognized as 3x All County, 4x State Qualifier, 3200 Region Champ, and the 5k XC Region Runner Up. He has participated in Varsity Cross Country his entire high school career. Rob plans to attend college and major in Business and Finance.
Sequoyah High School
Madison is the daughter of Susan and Matt Ehmig. She is a member of the Cross Country and Track teams at Sequoyah.
Madison’s accomplishments this year include competing at State for Cross Country, being nominated to the Freshman Homecoming court and becoming a member of the Beta Club.
Coach Adams was very impressed with Madison as a freshman this year “Madison placed 15th overall with a time of 21:22 at the Region Championship. She was a big reason the team placed 4th and qualified for State.”
Justin is the son of Dina and Scott Lingerfelt. He is a member of the Varsity Football and Wrestling teams at Sequoyah.
Justin is a 4-year letter recipient in Football and Wrestling. He received the Defensive Player of the Year Award for 2014 and 2015. He was recognized as the 2015 Special Teams Player of the Year. He also received the 2016 Superintendent’s Key Scholars award. He plans to attend college and play football.
Coach Teter had this to say about Justin “Justin is a hard working young man that is one of the key leaders of our team. Justin shows that he understands the true meaning of the word team by the way he always puts the team first and ahead of any of his personal goals. He shows great leadership by always going out of his way to help the younger players lean their assignments. Justin is a true Sequoyah Chief.”
Woodstock High School
Anna is the daughter of Amy and Gordon Burnett. She is a member of the Cross Country team.
Anna has participated in Cross Country, Track and Competition Cheer while at Woodstock High School. She is a member of the National Honor Society, 2x All County Track and Field and the WHS Most Valuable runner in 2016. In 2016, she placed 3rd in 7A State in 800m and 4th in State in 1600m. Anna also holds the WHS record for the 1600m.
Coach had this to say “Anna finished 3rd in the county with her best time of the season 18:35. She is a very hard worker and a great teammate. She has led the Wolverine Cross Country team the entire season in workouts and in every meet. She is our record holder in the 1600 meter run and the 4×400 meter relay. On Saturday, October 21st, Anna won the Area 3 7A Cross Country Meet and will be competing for a State Championship on November 3rd.”
Noah is the son of Olivia and Antonio Mitchell. He is a member of the Football and Basketball teams at Woodstock.
Noah has been recognized at the Grid Iron Player of the Week, Cherokee Tribune Player of the Week, 2016 All County Basketball, 2016 2nd Team All County, 2016 Football All County and a member of the 2016 Sweet 16 Football team. Noah plans to play Football at Liberty University and major in Business Marketing.
Coach has this to say :Noah has been selected as the Woodstock High School Make Athlete of the Month for his great play on the football field. This month Noah has helped lead the Woodstock Football team to a record of 2-1 with both wins coming over in county rivals Etowah and Cherokee. Noah had 5 catches for 145 yards and 3 TD’s, one of which was the game winning TD with 42 seconds left, in the win over Etowah.”
